Network of serpentine soil eco-service in Asia-Pacific

Web organized by Chia-Yu Yang

The first and the only group in the world dedicating to the research on serpentine ecosystem in humid subtropics and tropics such as paddy fields.

Serpentine soil is characterized by its unique environmental and biological eco-system. The study on serpentine soil ecosystem gives us knowledge related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), for examples, food security, sustainable agriculture, and clean water.
So far, some studies of serpentine ecology focus on heavy metal hyperaccumulators, phytoremediation and water quality in European and North American worlds, but this group is the only one from Asia for the eco-service of serpentine soil ecosystem.

Intro

Establishment of our group

Based on our close teamwork with international institution over the past decade year, this network has been supported by Office of International affairs of National Taiwan University (NTU) through the partner universities cooperation funding.
This network was initialized from the link of NTU to Kyoto University, Japan, and members from Asia-Pacific were further listed, including Kyoto Prefectural University (Japan), Southern Leyte State University (Philippines), and Vietnam Institute of Geosciences and Mineral Resources, Phenikaa University, Vietnam, and National Chung Cheng University, Taiwan.
